You'll need to create a bucket in your Impossible Cloud Storage console under the root user.
Optionally, you can enable the ObjectLock feature for enhanced data protection. Note that you cannot use a bucket with Object Lock if you'd like to use the deduplication cloud storage.\
Here is a link to the Impossible Cloud Storage documentation, which includes detailed instructions and screenshots for creating a bucket with Object Lock.
Proceed by installing Backup Exec on your system. Follow the instructions to complete the installation process.
Launch the Backup Exec Generic S3 Configurator to configure cloud storage. Pay attention to the following options:
Name: Provide a descriptive name for your cloud storage configuration.
Service Host: This corresponds to the Endpoint URL in Impossible Cloud terms.
SSL mode: Select the appropriate SSL mode based on your requirements.
URL style: You can use any URL style for cloud storage.
Provider (v4): Select the "compatible-with-s3-v4" provider.
Click "Execute Command" to initiate the creation of the cloud instance. Ensure that the operation completes successfully.
Click on "Manage Region" to define a new region for your cloud storage and add a new region. Follow the Backup Exec instructions.\
Once the region is added, click "Execute Command" to ensure that the operation completes successfully. Close the window.
Open Backup Exec and click "Configure Cloud Storage" to proceed with the configuration.\
Provide a name and description for your cloud storage configuration. Click "Next" to continue.
Note: If you plan to utilize deduplication and encryption features, ensure that:
A deduplication storage is created prior to adding Impossible Cloud Storage. Refer to the provided guide for instructions.
The bucket in Impossible Cloud Storage does not have ObjectLock and Versioning features enabled.\
Choose "S3" as the cloud storage type and click "Next".\
Select the previously created cloud storage instance from the list. Click "Add/Edit" next to "Logon Account".\
Click "Add" to add a new logon account.
Configure the logon account by providing the user name (access key) and password (secret key). Do not select "This is my default account" and select "This is a restricted logon account". Click "OK" to save the configuration.
On the Logon Account Selection screen, choose the newly created logon account and click "Next".
Select the appropriate bucket from Impossible Cloud Storage and click "Next".
Set the number of concurrent operations according to your requirements. Click "Next" to proceed.
Review the configuration details and click "Finish" to complete the cloud storage configuration.
When prompted, restart the Backup Exec services to apply the changes.
By following these steps, you will have successfully configured cloud storage in Veritas Backup Exec, allowing you to leverage Impossible Cloud Storage as a backup destination.
