Comet Backup: adding a Storage Vault

Step 1: Install Comet-Hosted or Self-Hosted Server

First, you'll need to install the Comet-Hosted or Self-Hosted server. Follow the instructions to download and install the server:

Step 2: Configuration Tips

Before you can add your Impossible Cloud Storage as a new storage vault in Comet Backup, you should follow some configuration tips. These tips are necessary for any configuration of Comet Backup with S3-compatible storage. Please follow the link to the Comet Backup S3-Compatible Storage Guide, which includes detailed instructions and screenshots for the configuration.

Step 3: Add New S3-Compatible Storage Location

Once you've completed the configuration steps, you can add your Impossible Cloud Storage as a new S3-compatible storage location. Simply select "Custom" as the storage type, and follow the on-screen prompts to add your storage vault. Here are screenshots of the respective part of the Comet Backup application.

Step 4: Create a Bucket with Versioning and Object Lock

To ensure your data is protected, you need to create a bucket with Versioning and Object Lock enabled in your Impossible Cloud Storage. Step 5: Configure Storage Vault Parameters

Once you've created your bucket, you'll need to configure the parameters in Comet Backup. Follow the on-screen prompts in Comet Backup to configure the parameters. Here is the screenshot for configuring parameters.

Step 6: Add Protected Items and Start Backing Up

You're now ready to add protected items to the Comet Backup configuration and start backing up your data. Follow the instructions outlined in the Comet Backup Protected Items Guide to add protected items and start backing up your data.
