First, you'll need to install the Comet-Hosted or Self-Hosted server. Follow the instructions to download and install the server:
After logging into the Comet Backup server, navigate to the Settings menu and open the Storage Templates section. Click Add, then select either Impossible Cloud or Impossible Cloud (Object Lock), depending on your immutability requirements.
Enter the Impossible Cloud region (e.g. eu-central-2), insert the access and secret key that you generated inside the Impossible Cloud Storage Console (ICSC) and define the retention period if you are using object lock. Test the connection to ensure proper configuration, then click Save to create the storage template.
Once you've created the storage template, you can simply create Impossible Cloud buckets as storage vaults directly from the Comet Backup Server. Just press "Add new vault..." and select the new Impossible Cloud template. Note: If you want to use different regions and immutability settings, it is recommended to create different templates.
Comet automatically creates the Impossible Cloud bucket with a single click using the predefined settings from the storage template.
Note: Using storage templates is recommended, but you can also manually add a new vault if needed. For example, this can be useful if you want to specify custom bucket names. To do this, click "Add New Vault", select "Custom..", choose Impossible Cloud as the storage type and follow the on-screen instructions.
You're now ready to add protected items to the Comet Backup configuration and start backing up your data using the Impossible Cloud storage vault. Follow the instructions outlined in the Comet Backup Protected Items Guide to add protected items and start backing up your data.
